Ratan Tata is an Indian industrialist and businessman.  




 INTRODUCTION  hi everyone this is me. Today I am going to tell you about a great businessman and industrialist Ratan Tata. Maybe any Indian is not aware of him, because he is not only a businessman or industrialist but also a kind and polite person. So if you have keen interest to know about him, then you must tight your seatbelt and let's know everything about Ratan Tata Saheb. 


WHO IS RATAN TATA?  

Ratan Tata is an Indian industrialist, investor, philanthropist, and the former chairman of Tata Sons. He was born on December 28, 1937, in Bombay. That time Mumbai was called Bombay. India to Naval Tata and Sonoo. After his parents separated, Ratan and his brother were brought up by their grandmother. He was brought up in a wealthy, popular Paris family, who had been in the business since the British rule in 


EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION 

He attended many schools, like Campion School, Cathedral School and then John Cannon School for his better education. He graduated from Cornell University in 1962 with a degree in Architecture and Structural Engineering. He continued his education with an Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 1975. He was in the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity, a prestigious club in the college.  


BUSINESS CAREER

The start of his career was in 1962. On his return, he joined the family business. Ratan Tata turned down a job offer from IBM.  As a child, he had always keen  interest in cars and their functioning. So he started working as an ordinary employee in Tata Steel. His work was to shovel stones and work with the furnaces. It was a hard task to do, but he achieved knowledge and respect for his family business. Ratan Tata worked as a blue-collar employee till 1971. Given his hard work, he was promoted to the position of director. During this period, the National Radio and Electronics Company was in a bad state.

However, soon after Ratan Tata joined the company, he made remarkable progress. In 1977, he moved to Empress Mills, which is a part of the Tata Group. He came up with a plan to make the mill business profitable. However, other Tata executives rejected it. Soon the mill was shut down. Therefore Ratan was moved to Tata Industries. 


In 1991, Ratan Tata was appointed as the new chairman of the Tata Group companies. Several people asked him about his capacity and experience to run the business, however, he got success and improved the financial state of Tata Industries. Under his leadership, Tata Group acquired major divisions like Tetley Tea, Jaguar, Land Rover and Corus. He turned the company into a worldwide business. Tata Industries became all the more popular when he introduced the world's cheapest car, the Tata Nano, in 2008. There is a story about Tata Nano car. One day Ratan Tata was going to his office in Mumbai at the red light, he stopped for green light. When he saw that there was family who had only one scooter and over that scooter, there were 4 members riding. So Ratan Tata thought that why should we not create a car like 4 members for poor. Because they don't have much money to buy new or expensive cars. So he decided to build Tata Nano, which was launched in 2008. This happened just because of him. Tata Nano was not successful car, but His purpose was to satisfy the poor.


On his 75th birthday, he resigned from the post of chairman of the Tata Group. Although he still keeps an eye on the new business and actively takes part in the decisions. Tata is also a member of the advisory Chase, the American International Group, and Booz Allen Hamilton.


RATAN TATA'S CHARITABLE PROGRAMS

Ratan Tata put his hard work and determination to use for charities as well. Most of his shares are forwarded to charities. One of his primary goals is to improve the quality of life for Indians. He became a member of the Prime Minister's Council on Trade and Industry. He served on the advisory board of the RAND Centre for Asia Pacific Policy. He is also an active participant in India's AIDS program. 

Tata was called 'India's Most Respected Business Leader ' by Forbes Magazine. The Indian government requested Tata to save the airlines Air India from sinking. Tata even successfully managed to make Air India profitable. 


RATAN TATA'S PERSONALITY 

Ratan Tata is a renowned personality and has received many awards and recognition across the world. He received Padma Bhushan in 2000. He also received the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.

Tata was knighted in 2009. He won the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012. He received an Honorary Doctorate of Law degree from York University, Canada in 2014. Tata was honoured as the 26th Robert S. Hatfield Fellow in Economic Education. It's the highest honor at Cornell University. He also got a doctorate from the London School of Economics. Tata was ranked amongst the '25 Most Powerful people in Business ' by Fortune Magazine in 2007.

RATAN TATA'S PERSONAL LIFE 

Ratan Tata never got married. He is a very private person and lives a low-profile lifestyle. He lives in a simple house in Mumbai and drives around in a Tata sedan. He played a major role in raising the standard for living of the common man in India. Ratan Tata has made his country incredibly proud.
